Harp Making Blogs

Some of our harp kit customers are first or second time woodworkers. What this means is they have never built a wood project before nor ever held a job at any time in any woodworking capacity. 

However, too, a number are experienced hobbyists or are amateur Luthiers, experienced in not only woodworking but in musical instrument making. 

Did you know a tradition in North America involves harpists naming their harps, much like naming a pet? Have you considered naming your own harp(s)? 

And, the awesome thing about building your own harp is you get to decorate it in any way you please.

Most first time harp makers or players are a bit shocked to learn that tuning up their harp for the first time requires a significant amount to time spent tuning their instrument. And, this not only applies to harps but to any stringed instrument. 

What makes a harp unique, though similar to a larger lyre is we harpists have so many more strings to tune! (Or, consider the work a piano tuner must do to keep their piano in tune!)
